Mr. Link contracted Polio at age 2. He has not had use of his right leg since. He also had surgery on his back in 1971 due to his polio. He utilizes a motorized wheelchair daily. On August 4th, Mr. Link had an accident in his wheelchair where he fell out and broke his left leg. He had surgery on his injured left leg. Mr. Link was referred to and admitted to HealthSouth for rehabilitation. He stated that he had two very emotional events happen while at HealthSouth. While working with OT he used muscles in his polio leg that he has never been able to use before. He was also able to take a shower with the help of his OT therapist Amanda for the first time in two years. He stated that he hasn’t been able to do anything other than a sponge bath. He said it was the greatest feeling to have the warm water hitting his sore polio muscles.
Mr. Link retired from AT&T in 2000 as a Project Manager after 16 years. Mr. Link requested to share his feedback with leaders and consented to sharing his testimony for our website and other media outlets.
